Course Overview:
This 10-hour professional development course introduces educators to the principles and practices of democratic education. Drawing on self-determination theory, ecological learning frameworks, and participatory pedagogy, participants explore how schools can move beyond compliance-based models to cultivate student agency, voice, and intrinsic motivation.
The course blends theory with hands-on practice: participants experience the very methods they will be invited to bring into their classrooms — including circle practice, negotiated curriculum design, and participatory governance tools.
