Educational Gamification
Course Summary
Gamification has long been seen as a method of increasing student engagement within the
classroom. You may want to introduce gamification to your classrooms but worry that you don't
have the skills or knowledge needed. This course aims to introduce the different types of
gamification that can be used in education. It will give you an understanding of how to choose
and apply the correct gamification methods for your learning objectives to your classroom.
The course will examine best practices in educational gamification through case studies and
active discussion. The course is also fully gamified so that you can experience the process from
the student’s perspective. This will allow you to have first-hand experience of how gamification
can be applied within a teaching environment.
The focus of the course is to provide you with the practical skills you need to design and deploy
your first gamified classroom solution. It will take you through the steps from conceptualization
to design of the system to paper prototype and finally on to digital design and integration.
